Urban Tribal
In the cities across the United States, there has been a resurgence of interest in various forms of ethnic dancing, such as belly dancing and hula. Of course, costuming is a big part of this, so the term "Urban Tribal" can refer to the dancing, the costuming, and the groups who enjoy both.
After spending most of my time with a triple-beam balance, lab beakers and syringes getting the exact match for Bohus colors, it's fun for me to kick back and make something totally spontaneous-handspun, hand-painted yarns of all kinds of materialswool, silk, cottonwhatever I have that says it wants to go public as part of an urban tribal costume.
You can order yarn for your own costuming at $0.50/yard
(plus shipping) through this site, with a minimum order
of 10 yards. Since every yard (in fact, every inch)
of this is unique, it is best ordered by a general description"I
want 6 yards of magenta, blues and purples in wool about
¼ inch thick". This is best accomplished by emailing
me first, so I can send you a picture of what I
come up with. The example below shows cowrie falls made
with the yarn described above.
